Purr throttles

higher

she

climbs onto

lap demanding

cuddles

August

Month of family celebrations--

three birthdays together

and

the founding anniversary

--only memory

now;

heat falters momentarily

then returns intensity

but summer 

is beginning

to 

wane into

an ending

school becomes

new focus

even

for 

me:

will

I 

be studying

for ordination

and 

for 

Hope Bible Institute?

Tea

warms

my

hands.

Tea settles

life into contentment,

clears muddle,

leads

to insight, reflection, speculation, deliberation

and conversation

with

God because

tea pauses

me.
